Fortec 999 Hd Software
I would like to do a factory reset on my Fortec Star Lifetime Ultra. Factory reset, remove the Pansat 2500A clone software from it, or will that still.
Is my Fortec Star Innovation sat receiver obsolete? Threads on how to do updates all refer to downloads being available from the Fortec Star website. However, the downloads page of the site Fortecstar.com does not list anything. In fact the site does not even mention Satellite Receivers! Presumably therefore Fortec star no longer produce them?
I purchased the box from Maplin in the UK in 2010. I can receive channels from the Astra satellite but the channels shown do not match with the EPG listing. Presumably the listing needs updating somehow? No idea whether the software is up to date but I have never updated it.
I think that it is because I only use it for caravan trips to Europe and whenever I have looked at how to do updates I have drawn a blank. Should I bin the box!? It's not obsolete, satellite TV doesn't move so quick.
What do you mean exactly by the channels not matching the EPG? It is not a Freesat receiver so you are in charge of sorting/scanning channels etc. It is unlikely to need a firmware update to be of any use to you and should continue to work as it always has done (till something dies!).

Just delete all the channels you have and rescan, with blindscan if the receiver has it. Then organise them if you wish.
If that sounds like too much work you just may find a channel list available online to load into it, but given it's age maybe not. Thanks kevkbuk.
My wife reports that when she selected some 'minority' channels they weren't what they said they were e.g. Pick was just listed as a number. Not sure how actual channel vs lising works but assume that box has remembered a name for a frequency and channels have subsequently changed the frequency they are broadcast on.
So if i delete all channels and the re- scan that will sort itself out? I.e channel name is in the broadcast stream. Good to know that I don't need to worry about firmware update, since updates no longer seem to be available.
