So last night while browsing the interebz I noticed in the right bottom corner of my screen, that It said 'Windows 7 Build 7601, is not Genuine.' I have never received this before I have a retail version of Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit and I have already spoke to Microsoft and they determined my Key is legit(but were not much help from there) My machine is one that Ive built. Ive had this Key on hear for over a year. The first thing I did was go to StartComputerProperties Where it should say Windows Activation code it is blank and does not have a 'change' button. I went next to installed updates to remove the verification update and it says ' No updates are installed on this computer.' Ive tried the CMD promt 'slmgr.vbs -ipk ' and it gave me Error 0xc004F016. I really need some help on this one, If I have to reinstall my OS I will.
We didn't and don't run slmgr /rearm. As I pointed out, we use the original install.wim from the original distribution media (.iso file). Whether this was rearmed by Microsoft we don't know. Apparently a hidden startup script of the domain trying to activate Windows with an invalid key caused these errors. Thanks everybody for helping.
I should have made an Image before now so that this wouldn't be a problem. Any help Would be nice I will Copy the data from MGADiag in after it runs. Ah - if you're going to be a while, then you may want to try this as well, after installing the update. Please try recreating the Licensing Store.
Recreate the Licensing Store 1) Click Start button. 2) Type: CMD.exe into the 'Search programs and files' field 3) Right-Click on CMD.exe and select Run as Administrator 4) Type: net stop sppsvc (It may ask you if you are sure, select yes) Note: the Software Protection service may not be running, this is ok.
5) Type: cd%windir% ServiceProfiles NetworkService AppData Roaming Microsoft SoftwareProtectionPlatform 6) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar 7) Type: cd%windir% system32 8) Type: net start sppsvc 9) Type: slui.exe 10) After a couple of seconds Windows Activation dialog will appear. You may be asked to re-activate and/or re-enter your product key or Activation may occur automatically. If you are asked for your Key, use the one on the COA sitcker on eht machine's case Reboot and Post back with a new MGADiag report. Hi Noel DP, In many cases of Windows turning non-genuine all of a sudden, you have advocated recreating the licensing store first (rather than taking a short-cut of putting the COA key and activating it, which is an ultimate solution when nothing else works) - and that had worked just like these two. I feel this should be the correct approach to the problem. (Keeping this in mind, in a concurrent thread where OP’s Royalty OEM activation turned non-genuine, I had suggested that he should first try System Restore to the point before the event occurred.
Incidentally that thread has been deleted in toto for whatever reason.) In these cases wouldn’t a system restore to a point before this event occurred restored whatever was missing or corrupted like the licencing store (except of course a corrupted SLIC in an OEM machine) and resolved the problem? Or am I missing something? Similar help and support threads Thread Forum There was a 5 page thread on trying to downgrade from Ultimate to Win 7 Pro but I thought I should start a new thread.
